Bad Dog Arts is a nonprofit organization located in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah. We provide programs for all ages by creating a safe space to engage in confidence-building and highly creative activities in our studio, in school classrooms and across the community.

It all started with a passion and a dream…

Directors, founders and artists, Michael Moonbird and Victoria Lyons created Bad Dog Arts in 1997. They started their first art class in their artsy apartment in Salt Lake City’s downtown area. They wanted to create an incredible place for kids from all walks of life to experience their fullest artistic potential. They taught students how to sculpt, collage, paint draw and much more. As their vision and class sizes grew Michael and Victoria expanded their work space to different studios until finally landing in their current location where so many artists of all ages have had the opportunity to learn, create and have fun!

Bad Dog Arts has now been creating for 25+ years with many of the schools throughout the Salt Lake area, collaborating with businesses, other art centers, community centers, libraries and more. People of all ages have had the opportunity to create in a safe place of encouragement and knowledge through all forms of art.

Michael and Victoria being passionate artists themselves continue to work on art projects outside of Bad Dog Arts, creating commissioned pieces and installing permanent murals. Some of the projects include students and other artists, giving them the opportunity to learn about different techniques, how to work within the community as an artist and about art installation.

Have you noticed any of these projects around the Salt Lake Valley?
