Art Assistant Job Description
Bad Dog Arts is a non-profit organization located in Salt Lake City, Utah. Our mission is to inspire youth from diverse cultures to experience the power and freedom to imagine, dare, and create new possibilities, individually and collaboratively, through the creative arts.
An Art Assistant is an entry-level position for the individual who wants to combine his/her skills with our talented team in a challenging, rewarding environment. Reporting to the Programs Coordinator, this position is responsible to assist our art educators in the classroom. Art Assistants must have an interest in art and a passion for enhancing children and students’ lives through the arts, with a desire to understand and internalize the mission, purpose, values and goals of Bad Dog Arts.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
Assist teachers in Bad Dog Studio and Outreach Programs.
Arrive at Bad Dog studio 10-15 minutes before class begins and stay until the end of class,
materials are put away and the classroom is clean.
Assist Instructor with materials prep before each class.
Provide assistance to students with the completion and generation of art projects.
Prep and distribute snacks to children at snack time.
Help with maintaining a clean classroom, assisting with clean up at the end of class.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Must be able to multi-task; be productive, focused, and flexible in a creative & sometimes chaotic environment.
Have a natural ability to interact and communicate effectively with people of all ages and backgrounds.
Ability to initiate games and interact with children in ways that are playful and energetic.
Demonstrate a pleasant and professional manner.
Ability to take direction from the artist/instructor as well as take initiative and help out where
needed.
Flexible schedule
Anyone 18 years of age or older must pass annual background check
Give sufficient notice (24 hours) to your immediate supervisor if you are unable to make it to a
scheduled shift.
